Members,
I am reaching out again today to discuss what I hope will be received as good news. With the early end of the competition season, the PGO has over $80,000 in fundraiser money in our account at this time.
The Board is keenly aware that many Southeastern families have been financially impacted by the economic conditions created by COVID-19. Our goal is to allocate PGO resources to reduce up front costs for everyone, to make the return to competition this summer a little bit easier on your wallet.
While the Board cannot control the cost of competitions that the team participates in, there are two expenses that we do have control over: competition apparel and the PGO fee that covers PGO operational expenses.
Currently the Board is deliberating two proposals that will be voted on during the May Board meeting:
Proposal 1: Apply a lion’s share of funds toward the purchase of new competition apparel for all 2020 team members, rather than fund payment of the NC State Meet next year (Nastia, Nationals, Easterns would remain fully funded). At this time, we estimate that every team member would receive more than a 75% discount on their required team apparel that is typically invoiced in June (costs vary per level).
Proposal 2: Reduce the scope of the PGO Operating budget – focus on “essential items” only. Reduces PGO Fee from $105 to $70 per gymnast. This would require the PGO Board to reduce operating budgets for IT, reduce the Tim Rand donation, remove coach gifts for birthdays/Christmas, coach birthday parties, Christmas party budget, and bulletin board decoration money from our budget
The Board intends to PASS BOTH PROPOSAL 1 & 2Any PGO member that would like to provide feedback on this matter may do so by submitting their ideas in writing to me at
pgo.president@gmail.com in advance of the May Board meeting, currently scheduled for May 11.
Thank you !
